About Me

Hi I am Kevin Walls. I draw my art and my heart from the woods and love that surrond me. I turly feel blessed for family and the community we help to create.

I hope this translates into my work and you find the same joy in the piece you take home from my stuio which nesteled in the hills above the Connecticut River in East Haddam, CT.

Long a Kingdom of the creative East Haddam has provided sanctuary to artist since the time of slavery through the struggle of gay rights. Many actors and musicians join our sleepy town as players performing on the river atGood Spead Opera House some sneak away take up residence in the prestigous i-park retreat hidden in the woods of this town.

This much art makes magic.

The Peoples of the First Nations called our home "Machismoodus" or land of the big noises. Historians believe the loud "boom" folks heard burped out from a fault line , but Suess taught me to belive, like many in town I grasp on to the knowledge that the noises come from the Creators unleashing the power of creativity in our town. You have to experience some time. Never silence art for it is the highest expression of democracy.

When I am not behind the torch you will find him behind the stove and cooking his gourmet food for his wife and their two children. "I find parallels between glass and food. A good piece and a good meal require the right balance of color and texture."

My Mission

In everything I do I strive to create sustaniable communities. My family also runs a farm stand in town, a loose network of organic and local farmers. We deliver food all over the state providing an alternative to the factory pits dooming our planet. I bring the same values of local and sustainbale to our world of glass blowing. We can create new models of cooperation.

Indie shops and small co-ops provide the only wall against the onslaught of lathe driven glass flooding the market while a generation forget the whimsy in our art. Yet we need to work together as a community. The rash of legalization laws provide us great opportunity. No longer driven into the shadows let's band together and make sure the independent artists and emerging cooperative do not get run over.

To that end I am always open to making collaboration pieces. I am happy to help you with production run deadlines and often have work I can farm out. We can consider sharing display gear and cases. We all need the same stuff but not everyone goes to the same shows. Community creates art, not individuals.

About This Site

My friend Greg Mcverry helps me mantain this site. We can not rely on facebook and Instagram alone. Time and time again businesses that build their sales funnels on social media get burned.

I still love our community so posts that I publish to Instagram get sent to my website using a tool called Own Your Gram, and when people mention my content on many social media channels that shows up as a comment! Greg used a bunch of #IndieWeb tools. I checked out the site and the values really align to what I want for our community.
